UConn’s Marcelino and USF’s Corrick Collect Weekly Softball Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly softball honors for the eighth week of the 2019 season.
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Briana Marcelino· So. · INF · UConn
Marcelino helped UConn to a pair of wins last week, including an American series win on the road against Wichita State, as she hit .429 with four home runs and tallied 12 RBI. She recorded three multi-hit games, including a two-homer, five-RBI game in the series finale against the Shockers. 

AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Georgina Corrick · So. ·RHP · USF
Corrick went 2-0 with a pair of complete games in two appearances to lead the Bulls to a series sweep over Houston, tossing 14 innings and striking out 21 batters. She allowed eight hits and one walk as the Bulls notched wins on Friday and Sunday afternoons.

WEEKLY HONOR ROLL
Cassady Brewer · Sr. · C · UCF
Brewer led the Knights to a second straight sweep in American play,  hitting .667  with four runs scored, a pair of doubles, and a home run as UCF went on the road and took three games from ECU.
 
Alea White · Jr. · RHP · UCF
White earned three wins with a pair of complete games for UCF, tossing 17.1 innings and striking out 10 batters. She allowed 10 hits and four runs as she moved to 5-0 in American play this season.

Ashley Threatt · Sr. · 1B · Memphis
Threatt extended her hitting streak to six games and pushed her on-base streak to 12 contests as she led Memphis with a .583 average last week. Threatt collected a double, a home run and a pair of RBI, notching both of her extra base hits against Tulsa in league play.
 
Chenise Delce · Fr. · RHP · Tulsa
Delce went 2-0 last week, earning wins as a starter and in relief, with 12 strikeouts in 10.1 innings of work as Tulsa swept Memphis in American play. She also helped Tulsa at the plate, hitting .400 with three RBI last week.
 
Ryleigh Buck· Jr. · INF · Wichita State
Buck hit .545 last week with a pair of doubles and a home run while driving in five RBI. She recorded a pair of multi-hit games, including a 3-for-3 afternoon against UConn as the Shockers won the series finale on Sunday.
