Tulsa 8, ECU 1 (Gm 1); Tulsa 5, ECU 1 (Gm 2)
Tulsa claimed its fourth straight American series win with a doubleheader sweep at ECU by scores of 8-1 and 5-1 on Friday afternoon. Rylie Spell's three-run homer capped a six-run third inning as Tulsa took game one of the three-game set with an 8-1 win over ECU. Chenise Delce picked up her team-leading 12th victory in the circle, while Sarah Briers and Tori Stafford each drove in a pair of runs to help Tulsa sweep the doubleheader with 5-1 win over ECU in game two.
Kendra Ziemba paced ECU with a hit and a run scored in the first game while Erin Poepping gave up seven runs on eight hits with four walks and five strikeouts in four innings in the loss. Tate McClellan and Ashley Weingartz rapped out base knocks with McClellan hitting a home run in the fourth to break up Chenise Delce's shutout bid in game two.
Wichita State 10, Memphis 3 (8 innings) (Gm 1); Wichita State 8, Memphis 4 (Gm 2)
Feeding off a seven-run top of the eighth inning in the first game, Wichita State claimed the first two games of the series against Memphis in Friday's doubleheader, winning the opener 10-3 before an 8-4 second game win. Madison Perrigan led the Shockers with four combined hits and four RBI in the two games, coming up with three doubles and tying her career-high with two in the second game. Erin McDonald picked up her ninth win of the season while Caitlin Bingham claimed her 12th win of the season.
Alyssa Dean recorded her first career three-hit game in game one against the Shockers and finished the day with four hits to lead Memphis. Baylee Smith and Regan Hadley also had multi-hit games in game one, as Smith registered her fifth home run of the season in the bottom of the fifth inning of game two. Delaney Smith joined Ryleigh Aungst and Sara Ann Davidson with two hits in game two.
USF 2, UCF 0 (13 innings)
USF remained undefeated in extra-innings with a 13-frame, 2-0 victory at UCF on Friday night. In the top of the 13th inning, Lindsey Devitt hit a double to right center with one out and moments later Bethaney Keen brought the power with a two-out, two-run blast that soared over the right field fence. Georgina Corrick was a hero for the Bulls, pitching all thirteen innings. She tossed 165 pitches, faced 47 batters and struck out ten in the Bulls win, walking just one.
Alea White took the loss to move to 20-8 overall after tossing all 13 innings, throwing 191 pitches and giving up eight hits, two runs, and striking out seven. Tera Testa led the Knights at the plate with a pair of singles as UCF tallied seven hits, drew one walk, and struck out 10 times.
Houston 9, UConn 0 (5 innings)
On a night that saw the Cougar offense erupt for 12 hits, Houston opened its weekend series with a 9-0 victory over UConn at Cougar Softball Stadium. Along with the 12 hits, the Cougars stole seven bases on the night, which tied a program record for most stolen bases in a game set in 2012. Houston had four players tally multiple-hits in the five-inning contest against the Huskies, but none bigger than Tierrrah Williams, who blasted two home runs and tied a career-high five RBI.
UConn finished with two hits, by Olivia Sappington and Briana Marcelino, while Marybeth Olson took the loss six runs in the first innings.
