Broken Records Abound in Women's Lacrosse Weekly Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly women’s lacrosse honors, for the week ending Monday, April 15.
 
Attacker of the Week
Lindsey Ronbeck * Sr. * Florida

Ronbeck put up record-breaking scoring numbers as Florida rattled off its fifth- and sixth-straight victories last week. She tied her own single-game program record with eight goals against Jacksonville on Thursday, accounting for nearly half of the Gators’ tallies in a 19-13 win. Seven of her eight goals came in the first half alone, setting another program record. Ronbeck followed with seven goals, an assist, two ground balls and four draw controls in Florida’s 20-10 win over ECU, securing a spot in the American Athletic Conference Championship for the Gators. For the week, the senior’s line included 15 goals, two assists, seven free-position goals, three ground balls, eight draw controls and two caused turnovers.
 
Midfielder of the Week
Sam Mlkvy * R-Jr. * Cincinnati
Mlkvy made an all-around impact in Cincinnati’s 12-9 win over Temple on Saturday – the Bearcats’ first-ever win over the Owls. She registered three goals for her 12th career hat trick with four ground balls, six draw controls and a caused turnover. With 61 draw controls on the season, Mlkvy surpassed her own single-season program record. Cincinnati’s victory locked up the program’s first-ever postseason tournament berth and marked the Bearcats’ sixth-consecutive win, tying the program record.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Cara Trombetta * Jr. * D * Florida

Trombetta repeated as the Defensive Player of the Week following another 2-0 week for Florida. She totaled seven ground balls, five draw controls and six caused turnovers in the Gators’ wins over Jacksonville and ECU. Trombetta’s five draw controls in Florida’s 20-10 victory over the Pirates marked a career-high, while her six caused turnovers on the game tied her own single-game program record. The Gators have are winners of six-straight and secured a berth to the American Athletic Conference Championship.
 
Freshman of the Week
Maddie Souza * A * Vanderbilt

Souza posted her first career hat trick on Sunday en route to Vanderbilt’s 22-15 win over UConn. She converted on all three of her shot attempts to reach the total, and added an assist to finish with a career-high four points. Souza and the Commodores secured a berth to the American Athletic Conference Championship with the victory.

Posted 11 points on Florida’s 2-0 week, consisting of five goals and six assists; added a ground ball and five draw controls in wins over Jacksonville and ECU, including a man-down score against the Dolphins

Tallied a career-high five goals along with two assists as Vanderbilt defeated UConn 22-15, converting on all five of her shot attempts; collected three ground balls and a draw control to go along with her career-high seven-point outing
