USF's Corrick Named Finalist for the 2019 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year

OKLAHOMA CITY — USA Softball, the National Governing Body of Softball in the United States, announced the 26 Finalists for the 2019 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year on Thursday, including USF sophomore pitcher pitcher Georgina Corrick.  

The USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award, which is considered the most prestigious honor in Division I women’s collegiate softball, recognizes the outstanding athletic achievement by Division I female players across the country.

Corrick boasts a 0.87 ERA this season with 30 appearances and 20 wins. She has only lost three times this season and has held batters to a .161 average. She has pitched 14 complete games for USF including a 13-inning battle against rival UCF.

The British National Team ace has earned three saves this season and recorded an impressive eight shutouts. In 160.2 innings, Corrick has struck out 209 batters and reached double-digit strikeouts in nine games this season. One of her three losses was a one-hitter against No. 6 Florida in Gainesville. Corrick has pitched extra innings three times this season, winning each time. 

Corrick is ranked in the top-25 nationally in seven statistical categories including No. 3 in ERA (.87), No. 12 in shutouts (8) and strikeouts (209), No. 16 in hits allowed per seven innings (3.96) and victories (20), No. 17 in strikeout-to-walk ratio (5.81), and No. 24 in strikeouts per seven innings (9.1).

The list of 26 Finalists will be narrowed to the 10 Finalists on May 8 before the Top 3 Finalists will be announced on May 22. The 2019 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year will be revealed May 28.
