AMERICAN SOFTBALL RELEASE - APRIL 5
KNIGHTMARE AT THE TOP
UCF has opened American play with a 6-0 mark, including starting conference action with a sweep at home at the end of March. The Knights have been great at the UCF Softball Complex all season, posting a 16-5 record there this year, matching their home record for all of 2018, with 12 home contests remaining this season. In Orlando, the Knights have outscored opponents 72-40 with 137 hits, 36 doubles, and 21 stolen bases.
RANKING CORRICK
USF’s Georgina Corrick ranks in the top 20 nationally in six categories where she also sits first or second in The American. Corrick has the No. 8 ERA (1.12), No. 14 strikeout-to-walk ratio (6.41), No. 19 strikeouts (141), and No. 20 strikeouts per seven innings (9.3) in the country. In all four of those categories, Corrick ranks first in The American. She checks in at second in The American and No. 18 nationally in victories (14), and second in The American and No. 20 nationally in hits allowed per seven innings (4.09).
TEAM-ING UP
Tulsa has received a boost from its newcomers this season, led by freshmen Josie Muffley and Chenise Delce, who rank second among league rookies in batting average and ERA, respectively. Muffley’s .358 average and 16 RBI both rank second on the team, while Delce leads the Tulsa pitching staff with a 1.43 ERA and an 10-3 record along with team-highs in innings pitched (83.1) and strikeouts (74). The Golden Hurricane is also getting major contributions from its seniors, as Julia Hollingsworth enters the weekend leading The American in batting average at .447 and Morgan Neal’s 11 doubles are one off the league leaders. She needs one more to tie her career-high for a season after she recorded 12 two-baggers in 2018.
