SETTING THE STAGE
USF was awarded The American’s automatic bid to the NCAA Championship after the 2019 American Softball Championship was unable to be completed due to a continuous pattern of inclement weather in the Houston area last weekend. Houston and Tulsa received two of the 32 available at-large bids. This year’s three selections mark the third time in The American’s six year history that the conference has had three or more programs in the NCAA Championship field.

EYE-CATCHING CORRICK 
American Pitcher of the Year Georgina Corrick leads The American and ranks in the Top 25 nationally in five categories: ERA, 3rd (0.90); Shutouts, 7th (11); Hits Allowed Per Seven Innings, 11th (3.95); Victories, 19th (24). The USF sophomore's 241 strikeouts are also a league-best and ranks 16th nationally.

RPI SEE YOU
Entering the postseason, The American has four teams (Tulsa, USF, Houston, UCF) ranked inside the top 55 in the latest NCAA Women’s Softball RPI. The American boasts four teams in the top 55 of the RPI rankings and 10 wins over top-25 ranked opponents during the regular season, along with six additional wins against teams that were receiving votes.

THAT’S SUPER
Houston, USF and Tulsa set out this weekend seeking regional titles and trip to a Super Regional next weekend. The three teams have a combined 35 NCAA Championship appearances, with four Super Regional berths and one trip to the Women’s College World Series. Houston hosted a Super Regional in 2008 and also advanced to the second weekend in 2011, while USF traveled for Super Regional action in 2006 before hosting a Super Regional in 2012, advancing to the WCWS that season.

NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP COVERAGE
ESPN will have every pitch from the 16 regional sites of the NCAA Division I Softball Championship. Games will be available across ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, SEC Network, Longhorn Network and ESPN3, with all games accessible via the ESPN App. ESPN’s postseason coverage includes televising every game of the Super Regionals and Women’s College World Series for the 13th and 19th consecutive seasons, respectively.
