STILLWATER, Okla. – American Rookie of the Year Chenise Delce tossed a complete game shutout on Thursday night and the Tulsa offense plated five runs in the top of the seventh to defeat Arkansas 5-0 in the NCAA Stillwater Regional.
The Golden Hurricane advance to play the winner of the Oklahoma State-BYU game at 1 p.m. ET/12 p.m. CT on Friday.
Delce allowed five hits, but none after the fourth inning, while striking out nine Arkansas batters for her 15
th victory of the season and ninth complete game of her freshman campaign. She tallied five strikeouts in the opening two innings, including three strikeouts looking, and retired the final seven batters of the night.
The Golden Hurricane offense scored five runs in the seventh on five hits and three Arkansas errors.
Seven of Tulsa’s eight hits came from the top four batters in the lineup, including two-hit games from Player of the Year Julia Hollingsworth, Morgan Neal and Rylie Spell. Spell collected two RBI while Hollingsworth drove in a run of her own.
Having already plated two runs in the seventh thanks to Arkansas errors, Tulsa extended the lead on Hollingsworth’s RBI single to left field and Spell’s two-run single back up the middle that brought home Neal and Alexis Perry.
Tulsa has now won 10 of the last 12 matchups with Arkansas and moves to 3-0 all-time against the Razorbacks in NCAA Regional action.
