Arielle James provided all the offense for Houston on Friday afternoon with her two-out, three-run homer in the bottom of the fifth inning as the Cougars defeated Texas A&M 3-1 in the NCAA Austin Regional. The win was Houston’s 38th of the season and improved the Cougars’ record to 26-4 on the year when scoring first. Sarah Barker and Maya Thomas each recorded two hits while Savannah Heebner tossed her 20th complete game of the season, striking out seven batters and allowing no earned runs to earn her sixth-straight victory.

Tulsa stayed alive with a 6-4 victory over BYU Friday night in the NCAA Stillwater Regional after falling to Oklahoma State by a 13-10 mark earlier in the afternoon. The 23 combined runs in the first game marked the third-highest scoring game in NCAA postseason history. Haley Meinen finished with two homers and four RBI in the opening game, while Chenise Delce drove in a pair of runs in both games.
