2019 IWLCA All-Region Teams

PROVIDENCE, R.I.
- Five American Athletic Conference women’s lacrosse standouts were named All-Region honorees by the IWLCA on Tuesday, including four Florida Gators and UConn sophomore Sydney Watson.

Florida’s All-South Region First Team selections consisted of sophomore Shannon Kavanagh, senior Lindsey Ronbeck and junior Cara Trombetta.
Gator senior Sydney Pirreca and UConn’s Watson were both Second Team honorees, with Pirreca landing on the All-South squad and Watson on the All-Northeast team.

This was Ronbeck’s fourth time as an All-Region selection and second time earning first team honors (2018, 2019). She was tabbed as a second team honoree during her first two seasons at UF (2016, 2017). Ronbeck is just the third Gator in program history to earn All-Region honors all four years at Florida (Caroline Fitzgerald, Taylor Bresnahan).

Pirreca earned the third All-Region honor of her tenure, earning first team honors in 2018. She recorded second team honors in both the 2017 and 2019 seasons. The senior became the ninth Gator to earn at least three All-Region honors during their tenure.

Trombetta picked up the second first team honor of her career, having been selected to the first team in 2018 as well.

Kavanagh nabbed the second All-Region of her career on Tuesday – the sophomore was a second team selection a season ago.

Following a breakout freshman year campaign, Watson turned in another outstanding season as a sophomore. The Prince Frederick, Md. native led the Huskies in goals (39), points (51) and draw controls (92) – shattering the single-season program record for draw controls she set during the 2018 season. This is Watson's second consecutive nod to the regional second team after garnering the distinction in 2018.

The IWLCA has honored 128 student-athletes in Division I with a selection to one of the All-Region teams for 2019. These student-athletes are now eligible to be named to a national IWLCA All-American team. The IWLCA will celebrate the 2019 All-Americans during Divisional All-American Specials, which will be aired on Lax Sports Network in mid-June.
