UConn 4, Tulsa 3
Jill Stockley struck out six batters in six innings as UConn won the series opener 4-3 against Tulsa on Friday afternoon. Reese Guevarra and Olivia Sappington each tallied two hits, while Sappington, Kiwi McDaniel and Carli Cutler all notched an RBI in the win.
Haley Meinen went 2-for-3 with a homer and two RBI for Tulsa in the loss. Chenise Delce had two hits in as many at-bats and Julia Hollingsworth finished with a double and RBI for the Golden Hurricane. Kassidy Scott took the loss in the circle, giving up three earned runs off six hits in six innings of work.
UCF 5, Memphis 1
UCF opened its final regular season American Athletic Conference series with a 5-1 win against Memphis on Friday afternoon. Alea White tossed her 24th complete game and fifth shutout of the season and earned her 22nd win of the season. Cassady Brewer homered in the third inning to get the Knights on the board first and the scoring never slowed down. The first five hitters in the UCF lineup went 6-for-14 with four runs scored and four RBI. Damaria Cannon went 2-for-3 in the win with a triple, one run scored, and an RBI.
Four Tigers had base hits - Regan Hadley, Ashley Threatt, Ashton Stowe and Gracie Morton. Morton’s RBI single in the seventh inning was her 32nd RBI this season. Karli Perque was handed the loss after pitching 4.1 innings, striking out three while walking two and allowing five runs.
Houston 4, ECU 1
Houston kept its hot bats alive on Friday night, as a 10-hit performance led to a 4-1 win over ECU at Cougar Softball Stadium. Houston's 10-hit outing marks the third game in a row the Cougars have tallied at least 10 hits in a game. The win over the Pirates marks Houston's 11th win in their past 13 contests. Friday also saw a pair of three-hit nights from Sarah Barker and Maya Thomas. Thomas has now hit safely in her past 11 games, having recorded a hit in nine consecutive at-bats. Presley Bell lowered her season ERA to 1.24 by not allowing an earned run against ECU, retiring the final 15 batters she faced in the win.
Ashleigh Inae paced the visiting ECU side with a hit and a RBI while Erin Poepping was the losing pitcher, surrendering three runs on seven hits with two walks and three strikeouts in 3.2 innings.
Wichita State 4, USF 3 (8 innings)
Lauren Mills hit her first home run since Feb. 9 in the bottom of the eighth inning as Wichita State claimed its fifth extra inning victory of the season with a 4-3 win over USF on Friday night at Wilkins Stadium. Sydney McKinney tied a career high with a three-hit night and Caitlin Bingham collected two strikeouts in five innings pitched. Erin McDonald came up with her 13th win of the season, shutting out USF in the last three innings.
AnaMarie Bruni paced the USF offense with two hits, while Macy Cook got the Bulls on the board with her two-run single in the first inning. Bethaney Keen and Kelsey Lay also tallied hits. Georgina Corrick took the tough-luck loss, allowing four runs on 10 hits with three strikeouts.
