Burleson and Feole earn first weekly honors of May


PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly baseball honors for the week ending May 5.
                
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Alec Burleson * So. * OF/1B * ECU
Burleson earns his second American Player of the Week nod this season after helping the Pirates clinch their sixth conference series of the year. The sophomore hit .583 (7-for-12) and slugged 1.250 with five doubles, runs scored and RBIs, as well as his sixth home run of the season in a three-game sweep of Cincinnati. Burleson had a trio of multi-hit games, driving in at least one run, while crossing home plate in each game of the series.
 
PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Mason Feole * Jr. * LHP * UConn
Feole pitched his best game of the year in Friday night’s 4-0 series-opening win over Wichita State, going 7.0 shutout innings with a season-high 10 strikeouts. The All-America southpaw scattered two hits and two walks in is outing. Feole retired the side in order three teams and struck out the side in the second inning.
 
WEEKLY HONOR ROLL  
Jordan Spicer * Sr. * RHP * UCF
Spicer struck out a career-high nine batters through 6.0 innings of work in a 5-2 rubber-match win at Tulane Sunday to help his side clinch a key American series. Spicer held the conference’s top offense to one run on four hits and two walks. The senior righthander kept the Green Wave off the board for the first 5.2 innings of play.
 
Jared Triolo * Jr. * 3B * Houston
Triolo led the Cougars at the plate in a 3-0 week, which included a two-game weekend sweep of UNLV. He went 6-for-14 with a .429 batting average and .786 slugging percentage. Triolo drove in seven runs, hitting two doubles and a homer. In Sunday’s series finale against UNLV, he went 5-for-5 with five RBIs.
 
Chris Durham * R-Jr. * LHP * Memphis
Durham struck out seven in a 1-0 seven-inning win over USF Sunday. He allowed only three hits and two walks in 6.0 shutout innings of work.
 
Hunter Goodman * Fr. * C/OF * Memphis
Goodman continues to shine in his rookie campaign. The freshman led the Tigers’ offense, batting .500 (9-for-18) and slugging .944 with six RBIs, three doubles, seven runs scored a triple and a home run. His homer was the only run scored in a 1-0 Game 1 victory during a doubleheader Sunday, as he drove in four more runs in Game 2 of the twin bill. Goodman had multiple hits three times on the week, including three hits in Games 1 and 3 of the series against USF.
 
Kaleb Roper * R-Sr. * RHP * Tulane
Roper fanned 11 batters in 8.0 innings of work in a 6-2 series-opening win Friday night. Roper surrendered one run on four hits, retiring 12-straight batters and 18 of 19 from the first until the seventh inning.
