PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Three players from the American Athletic Conference were among the 48 players named to the 2019 Intercollegiate Tennis Association NCAA Division I All-America team in men's tennis.
The criteria for ITA All-America honors include earning a top 16 seed into the NCAA Singles Championship, advancing to the round of 16 at the NCAA Championship or finishing in the top 20 of the final Oracle/ITA Singles Rankings. All-America recognition is awarded to doubles teams that earn a top eight seed into the NCAA Championship, reach the NCAA Championship quarterfinals or finish in the top 10 in the final Oracle/ITA National Doubles Rankings.
USF senior Alberto Barroso-Campos, the 2019 American Athletic Conference Player of the Year, earned All-America status based on his seed among the top 16 in the NCAA Singles Championship. Barroso-Campos went 20-3 in singles play in the 2018-19 dual match season, was 7-0 against American Athletic Conference opponents and went 5-3 against nationally ranked players. He finished the season ranked No. 24 in the ITA singles rankings.
Wichita State saw its top doubles tandem of Murkel Dellien and Marius Frosa named to the ITA All-America team as well after the duo reached the quarterfinal round of the NCAA Doubles Championship. Dellien and Frosa registered a 9-1 doubles record, including a 3-1 ledger against ranked opponents. The duo ended the year at No. 20 in the ITA doubles rankings.
