TOUGH AT THE TOP
USF earned the most points and four first-place votes to take the top spot in the 2019 American Athletic Conference women’s soccer preseason coaches’ poll. The Bulls totaled 76 points to edge Memphis (74 points, four first-place votes) for the No. 1 ranking. UCF garnered the final two first-place votes and slots third with 66 points.

HERMANN WATCH
Four American Athletic Conference women’s soccer players have been named to the 2019 Women’s MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List. 

The Memphis pair of senior Serena Dolan and junior Clarissa Larisey, along with USF seniors Evelyne Viens and Andrea Hauksdottir, made the Tigers and Bulls two of only 14 programs in the nation to have multiple women’s watch list selections for the most prestigious individual award in college soccer.

INTERNATIONAL PLAY
UCF senior Konya Plummer played for Jamaica at the 2019 Women’s World Cup in France, serving as team captain for a Jamaican squad – the youngest team captain on any Women’s World Cup roster this summer. Last fall, she helped Jamaica become the first Caribbean nation to qualify for the Women’s World Cup while also appearing in nine UCF matches.

ECU senior Jayda Hylton-Pelaia represented Jamaica at the Pan American Games in Peru, her first taste international competition at the senior level. She previously represented Jamaica at the youth levels, including with the U20 team at the 2018 CONCACAF Women’s U20 Championship, as well as in friendly’s.

PRESEASON LOOK
A pair of American teams are in the initial rankings, with USF ranked No. 18 in the United Soccer Coaches poll and No. 14 by TopDrawer Soccer. Memphis checked in at No. 20 in the United Soccer Coaches poll and No. 24 by TopDrawer Soccer. Both teams played in the NCAA Championship last season.
