KANSAS CITY, Mo. (United Soccer Coaches/SMU) -- Shane Lanson was selected as the United Soccer Coaches Division I player of the week, it was announced Tuesday.

The sophomore goalkeeper takes home the honor after earning three clean sheets last week, including one versus then-No. 2 Duke on Monday night on the road. Lanson faced 10 SOG in the three games, making a save each time, including a penalty save in the 78th minute versus UC Riverside to preserve a 1-0 win.

Lanson is the only keeper nationally to have four or more starts and have not allowed a goal.

The last time an SMU player won the prestigious weekly award was Jaime Ibarra on Oct. 3, 2012.

Lanson and the No. 8 Mustangs are back in action on Saturday, September 21 when they play in Denver vs. the Denver Pioneers (1-4-1).
