PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly volleyball honors for the week ending Sunday, Sept. 1.
Offensive Player of the Week
Jordan Thompson * R-Sr. * RS/OH * Cincinnati
Thompson led Cincinnati to a 2-1 record on opening weekend, as the Bearcats defeated South Carolina and Cleveland State. She totaled 47 kills in 10 sets, hitting .286 for the weekend with seven service aces. Against the Gamecocks, Thompson led all players with 20 kills and finished with 24.5 points. Against Cleveland State, she hit .350 with 18 kills and tallied three aces. Defensively, the redshirt senior totaled 32 digs and seven blocks on the weekend.
Defensive Player of the Week
Taylor Horsfall * Sr. * DS/L * Tulsa
Horsfall was named to the North Texas Invite All-Tournament Team following the Golden Hurricane’s opening weekend after totaling 72 digs in 13 sets. In the tournament’s opening match, Tulsa defeated Pepperdine in five sets, with Horsfall registering 37 digs. It marked the ninth time on her career she has eclipsed the 30-dig mark. She added 13 digs against Illinois State and 22 against North Texas to average 5.54 digs per set on the weekend, and cleanly received 52 serves without a reception error.

Anne-Marie Watson * Jr. * RS * UCF
Named to the Rebel Invitational All-Tournament team after averaging 3.0 kills per set and 1.15 blocks per set while hitting .380 on the weekend; finished with 39 kills and 15 total blocks in 13 sets as UCF went 2-1
Bri Wood * Jr. * RS * ECU
Posted a .444 hitting percentage in eight sets, averaging 4.38 kills per set with only three errors as ECU downed George Mason and Providence; registered a 19-kill, 12-dig double-double against the Friars
Meredith Wallace * So. * OH * Memphis
Averaged 4.64 kills per set and 2.27 digs per set to earn a spot on the EIU Panther Invitational All-Tournament team; in a 3-1 win over South Dakota State, registered a double-double with career-highs in kills (19) and digs (11)
Lindsey Pliapol * So. * OH * USF
Recorded back-to-back double-doubles in USF’s 2-0 start, averaging 4.11 kills and 2.67 digs per set; registered 15 kills and 11 digs against UAB and hit a career-high 22 kills with 13 digs against Ball State
Montana Watts * Sr. * L * SMU
Was named the Best Libero at the SMU DoubleTree Invitational, averaging 5.36 digs per set; finished with 59 digs in 11 sets, including 31 digs against Stephen F. Austin, and just one reception error in 42 attempts
