Cincinnati and Memphis Collect Women's Soccer Weekly Awards

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly women’s soccer honors for the sixth week of the 2019 season.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Claire Abrey · So. · M · Memphis
Abrey led Memphis with a pair of goals in a 2-1 win over USF on Sunday afternoon in Tampa. The sophomore scored the opener in the first half and again in the second half, three minutes after the Bulls had equalized.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Ashley Barron · Fr. · D · Cincinnati
Barron started at center back for the Bearcats in a pair of shutout wins. She played the full match against UConn where Cincinnati allowed three shots on goal and played most of the game at Temple and allowed just two shots on goal.

GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK
Elizabeth Moberg · Jr. · GK · Memphis
Moberg recorded a shutout win with two saves in a 1-0 win at UCF on Thursday before making seven saves in a 2-1 win at USF on Sunday. Her nine saves allowed Memphis to start 2-0-0 in conference play.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Mya Jones · Fr. · M/F · Memphis
Jones picked up an assist in the Tigers’ 2-1 win at USF on Sunday afternoon. The freshman also recorded three shots over a pair of wins.

WEEKLY HONOR ROLL
Camryn Hartman · So. · F · Cincinnati
Hartman scored the game winning goal in a 2-0 win at Temple and recorded three more shots at UConn in a 1-0 win.
 
Madison Less · Jr. · GK · Cincinnati
Less recorded two shutout wins last week, making a pair of saves at Temple and three saves at UConn.
 
Melanie Stiles · Jr. · GK · ECU
Stiles made three saves in a shutout at UConn and recorded five saves in an overtime loss at Temple.
 
Caroline Duncan · So. · D · Memphis
Duncan aided the Memphis defense to a shutout in a 1-0 win at UCF as well as a 2-1 win over USF, playing the full 90 minutes in both matches.

Hauksdottir recorded three points last week, including a golden goal penalty against Tulsa with 13 seconds left in double overtime.
