Saturday (Jan. 11) saw four American Athletic Conference men's basketball games take place, with East Carolina and Tulsa picking up home wins and Cincinnati and Tulane winning on the road.

Cincinnati 68, UCF 54 - Box Score

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) -- Tre Scott recorded 14 points and 11 rebounds to lift Cincinnati to a 68-54 win over UCF on Saturday.

Keith Williams had 16 points and six rebounds for Cincinnati (10-6, 3-1 American Athletic Conference). Chris Vogt added 13 points and Jarron Cumberland had six assists.

Collin Smith had 19 points and nine rebounds for the Knights (9-7, 0-4), who have now lost five straight games. Brandon Mahan added 13 points and Ceasar DeJesus had 12.

The Bearcats have won three of their last four games and have outscored opponents by 44 points in the second half of the last two games.

Tulane 65, Temple 51 - Box Score

PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Teshaun Hightower and Jordan Walker scored 17 points apiece as Tulane defeated Temple 65-51 on Saturday, handing the Owls a third straight loss.

K.J. Lawson added 16 points with 10 rebounds for the Green Wave, his first double-double of the season. Lawson also led with six steals and matched Hightower with six assists.

Tulane (10-6, 2-2 American Athletic Conference) scored 21 points off 18 Temple turnovers, made 11 steals and hit 9-of-23 3-pointers. Temple shot 32% from the field (17-of-54) and was 5-for-24 from distance.

It was Tulane's first win at Temple since December 28, 2017.

Quinton Rose had 12 points for the Owls (9-6, 1-3). Nate Pierre-Louis added 8 points and 11 rebounds. J.P. Moorman II had eight rebounds. Rose made one steal in the game, tying him for ninth on Temple's all-time list with 196.

ECU 71, SMU 68 - Box Score

GREENVILLE, N.C. (AP) -- Tristen Newton hit a 3-pointer from the left corner in the closing seconds and East Carolina upset SMU 71-68 on Saturday.

Tyson Jolley made two free throws to tie the game with 12 seconds left. Following a timeout, Tremont Robinson-White dribbled the length of the court and as he was challenged at the basket he found Newton for the game winner.

Jolley's runner from just inside half court bounced off the front of the rim as time expired.

Jayden Gardner scored 20 points for the Pirates (8-8, 2-1 American Athletic Conference), which earned its sixth straight home victory. Newton added 12, Tyrie Jackson 11 and Tremont Robinson-White 10 points.

The Pirates were in trouble after the first half, heading into halftime trailing 38-27. Gardner had 14 points in the second half and East Carolina made 7 of 17 3-pointers and shot 50%.

Robinson-White scored with 1:50 to play to make it a 3-point game. He then came up with a steal and was fouled. He made the first free throw and missed the second but Gardner grabbed the rebound and made the putback to tie the game at the 1:19 mark.

SMU missed a shot and made two free throws with 28.8 seconds to go for a 68-66 lead.

Isiaha Mike had 21 points for the Mustangs (12-3, 2-1), whose four-game winning streak came to end. Kendric Davis added 13 points and six assists and Emmanuel Bandoumel had 11 points.

Tulsa 63, Houston 61 - Box Score

TULSA, Okla. (AP) -- Darien Jackson scored a career-high 19 points and Tulsa scored the last seven points of the game to Tulsa defeated Houston 63-61 on Saturday.

Marcus Sasser missed a 3-pointer in the closing seconds, the seventh-straight miss for the Cougars in the last five minutes. After a DeJon Jarreau layup put Houston ahead 60-54, the Cougars were limited to one free throw. In addition to the seven-straight missed shots, Houston had three turnovers.

Jackson's dunk cut the deficit to four and after seven empty possessions for both teams he followed the Houston free throw with a 3-pointer to cut it to 61-60 with 1:48 to play.

Houston had a turnover Brandon Rachel turned into the lead with a pair of free throws at the 1:09 mark. Then Houston missed a shot and Rachel converted two more free throws with 34 seconds left.

There was another turnover but Tulsa missed the front end of a one-and-one but the Cougars couldn't convert that into the winner.

Jeriah Horne added 10 points for Tulsa (10-6, 2-1 American Athletic Conference).

Caleb Mills had 22 points for the Cougars (12-4, 2-1), whose six-game winning streak was broken. Jarreau added 16 points and Sasser 14 points.
