Highlights
-SMU kicked off its second semester of meets by sending athletes to compete at the Tennessee Diving Invitational in Knoxville, Tennessee over the weekend. Peter Smithson led the way for the Mustangs with a victory off the 1-meter board, scoring 321.35 points. Smithson added a sixth-place finish in the finals of the 3-meter dive with a score of 350.80 points, while Parker Hardigree was 11th with 313.30 points. Johanna Holloway was the top competitor for the SMU women in the 3-meter event, scoring 280.55 points for ninth place. Nicole Stambo paced the Mustangs in the 1-meter in 15th place (241.60 points).
-Tulane opened 2020 as one of four teams taking part in the FGCU Quad Meet in Fort Myers, Florida. The Green Wave defeated Illinois State 180-32, tied host FGCU 112-112 and fell to Liberty 131-93. Olivia Johnson was a double-medalist in the 400 IM (4:20.39) and the 500 freestyle (4:58.31) for Tulane, and Courtney Barker added a win in the 100 freestyle with a time of :52.43. Kate McDonald led the way for the field in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:03.62.
-East Carolina joined SMU at the Tennessee Diving Invitational. Rodrigo Romero was 19th in the prelims of the 1-meter dive after scoring 261.35 points, and Gavrilo Blijden was 28th with 230.05 points. Romero scored 258.45 points for 23rd place off the 3-meter board, and Blijden was 24th (243.80). Silvia Alessio led ECU in the women’s 1-meter with a score of 231.15 points (25th place), while Alexis Edmonds finished 41st with 205.60 points. Alessio paced the Pirates off the 3-meter board with a score of 232.45 points (34th place).
