WOODEN AWARD MIDSEASON TOP 25
LOS ANGELES (UConnHuskies.com) – Four members of the UConn women's basketball team were named to the Wooden Award Midseason Top 25, as announced by the Los Angeles Athletic Club Wednesday.
Senior Crystal Dangerfield, junior Megan Walker, sophomore Olivia Nelson-Ododa and sophomore Christyn Williams were tabbed to the list.
Dangerfield is averaging 15.0 points per game, good for third on the team. She leads the Huskies with 44 assists and 4.4 assists per game.
Walker leads the Huskies this season with 21.0 points per game and is tied for the team lead with 9.4 rebounds per game. She has scored in double digits in every game this season, including seven games with 20 or more points.
Nelson-Ododa is averaging 13.0 points and 9.4 rebounds per game. She is top three nationally with 54 blocks and 4.5 blocks per game. She has five or more blocks in five games this season.
Williams is second on the team with 16.3 points per game. She is also averaging 5.2 rebounds per game. Williams leads UConn with 19.7 points per game in conference play.
A Husky has won the Wooden Award five times previously: Maya Moore (2009, '11), Tina Charles (2010) and Breanna Stewart (2015, '16).
The four have helped UConn back to the No. 1 ranking and a 12-0 record. The Huskies will have a tough test Thursday as they face No. 6 Baylor at 7 p.m. on ESPN.
