10.12.20

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly football honors for the sixth week of the 2020 season.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Marquez Stevenson • Houston • Sr. • WR • Shreveport, La.
Stevenson finished with 223 all-purpose yards and scored two long touchdowns in Houston’s 49-31 win against Tulane in the Cougars’ season-opener. Stevenson had five receptions for 118 yards, including a 41-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter to put the game away. He added a 97-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in the third quarter after the Green Wave had closed to within three points. Stevenson turned in his ninth career game with at least 100 receiving yards and has 13 receptions of at least 40 yards since the start of the 2018 season, good for third nationally.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Terrell Adams • Navy • So. • LB • Birmingham, Ala.
Adams made his first career start, stepping in for injured all-conference linebacker Diego Fagot, and delivered a team-high nine tackles in Navy’s 31-29 win against Temple. Working on a defense that was without five regular starters, Adams came up with the game’s biggest defensive play as he knocked aside what would have been the game-tying two-point conversion with 1:02 remaining, allowing the Midshipmen to improve to 2-0 in The American.

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jake Verity • East Carolina • Sr. • K • Bremen, Ga.
Verity scored 14 points, connecting on three field goals (29, 42, 37) and five PATs to help East Carolina to a 44-24 win at USF. In the process, he became the Pirates’ career scoring leader with 309 points, passing the old mark of 300, set by Warren Harvey from 2012-14. The NCAA’s active career leader with 66 field goals, Verity became the fifth American Athletic Conference kicker to surpass 300 career points.

Rahjai Harris • East Carolina • Fr. • RB
Rushed for 115 yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries for his first career 100-yard game in a 44-24 win at USF. Turned in the Pirates’ highest single-game rushing total by a true freshman since Chris Johnson’s 158-yard game against Tulane in 2004.
