Tulane to Meet Nevada in Famous Idaho Potato Bowl

12.13.20

IRVING, Texas – Tulane has been selected to play in the 2020 Famous Idaho Potato Bowl.

The Famous Idaho Potato Bowl will be played Tuesday, Dec. 22, at Albertsons Stadium in Boise, Idaho. The game will be televised on ESPN at 3:30 p.m. ET. Tulane will face Nevada (6-2) in the game, marking the first postseason meeting between those teams.

Tulane went 6-5 in 2020 as the Green Wave closed the season with four wins in its last five games. Tulane’s schedule included three games against top-25 opponents, including a 38-12 victory against then-No. 25 Army Nov. 14.

Tulane will make its 14th appearance in a bowl game and its third as a member of the American Athletic Conference. The Green Wave is playing in a bowl for the third consecutive season for the first time in program history and looks for its third consecutive postseason victory.

The Famous Idaho Potato Bowl will be held for the 24th time in 2020, while Tulane becomes the first team to play in the bowl as a member of The American (Cincinnati and Tulsa both played in the bowl prior to the formation of The American). The bowl will be played at Albertsons Stadium on the campus of Boise State University.

Tulane and Nevada have met only once previously on the gridiron. The Green Wave took a 34-17 win against the Wolfpack Sept. 26, 1992, at the Superdome.

The Famous Idaho Potato Bowl is owned and operated by ESPN Events

Additional bowl selections regarding American Athletic Conference institutions will be announced as they are made final.
