American Athletic Conference men's basketball teams went 5-0 in five home contests on Wednesday night (Dec. 2). Cincinnati and Wichita State picked up wins in their season openers, while Memphis won its home opener.
Cincinnati 67, Lipscomb 55 -

CINCINNATI (AP) — Mika Adams-Woods posted 16 points as Cincinnati beat Lipscomb 67-55 on Wednesday.
Chris Vogt had 12 points and three blocks for Cincinnati (1-0). Rapolas Ivanauskas added 11 points and David DeJulius had six rebounds.
Romeao Ferguson and Greg Jones each scored 12 points for the Bisons (1-2). Ahsan Asadullah had three assists and seven turnovers.
USF 76, Florida Gulf Coast 57 - Box Score
TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Michael Durr had 14 points and nine rebounds as South Florida got past Florida Gulf Coast 76-57 on Wednesday.
Alexis Yetna had 13 points and nine rebounds for South Florida (2-2). Caleb Murphy added 12 points. Justin Brown had 10 points.
Jalen Warren had 17 points for the Eagles (1-1). Cyrus Largie added 12 points and six rebounds. Franco Miller Jr. — a sophomore transfer from Mississippi — had 10 points.
Wichita State 85, Oral Roberts 80 - Box Score
WICHITA, Kan. (AP) — Tyson Etienne had a career-high 26 points as Wichita State narrowly defeated Oral Roberts 85-80 on Wednesday night. The win is the first for the Shockers under interim head coach Issac Brown.
Alterique Gilbert had 18 points for Wichita State (1-0). Morris Udeze added 10 points and three blocks. Clarence Jackson had eight rebounds.
Max Abmas scored a career-high 28 points plus eight assists and six rebounds for the Golden Eagles (1-2). Kevin Obanor added 27 points and seven rebounds. Kareem Thompson had eight rebounds.
Memphis 83, Arkansas State 54 - Box Score
Landers Nolley II scored a game-high 23 points coming off the bench as Memphis defeated Arkansas State, 83-54, to remain undefeated in home openers at FedEx Fourm. Lester Quinones (15 points, 10 rebounds) and Moussa Cisse (14 points, 10 rebounds) both recorded double-doubles for the Tigers.
The 54 points were the least the Tigers have allowed in a game this season. They held Arkansas State to just 33% from the field (17-52) and forced 18 turnovers.
Marquis Eaton and Markise Davis each scored 13 points to lead Arkansas State.
SMU 102, Houston Baptist 75 - Box Score
Kendric Davis scored 20 points and dished out 13 assists as SMU defeated Houston Baptist 102-75. The Mustangs have scored 90 or more points in each of the first three games of the season for the first time since 1992-93.
Davis matched his career high and The American record for assists in a game with 13. Russ Smith (Louisville vs. UConn, 3/8/14) and Brandon Gordon (UCF at Tulane, 2/19/15) also share the record. Davis becomes the first player in conference history to hit 13 assists twice, after reaching the mark the first time against Tulane on Feb. 1, 2020.
The Mustangs had five in double figures for the second straight game, as Ethan Charois (20), Feron Hunt (18), Darius McNeill (13) and Emmanuel Bandoumel (12) joined Davis. Chargois and Davis became the first Mustang duo to score 20 points in the same game since SMU played at Vanderbilt on Jan. 4, 2020.
