SMU's Davis, Houston's Mark Earn Men's Basketball Weekly Honors

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly men’s basketball honors for the second week of the 2020-21 season.
 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Kendric Davis, Jr., Guard, SMU
Davis nearly averaged a double-double in three wins last week with 17.3 points, 9.0 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 3.3 steals per contest. The junior guard scored 21 points in the Mustangs’ win at Dayton on Saturday (Dec. 5). Against Houston Baptist, Davis matched his career high and The American single-game record with 13 assists, while also adding 20 points and six steals with no turnovers.
 
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Tramon Mark, Guard, Houston
Mark made his first collegiate start against South Carolina on Saturday (Dec. 5), recording 18 points, four rebounds and two steals without committing a turnover. The guard was 9-of-12 from the free throw line.
 
HONOR ROLL
Jayden Gardner, Jr., Forward, East Carolina
Gardner averaged 23.5 points and 6.0 rebounds in a pair of wins for the Pirates, including 20 points and eight rebounds against Radford. The junior forward shot 66.7 percent from the field (18-27) for the week.
 
Quentin Grimes, Jr., Guard, Houston
Grimes led the Cougars to a win over South Carolina on Saturday (Dec. 5) with 23 points, seven rebounds, three assists and two steals. The junior guard was 14-of-15 from the line.
 
Landers Nolley II, R-So., Guard, Memphis
Nolley averaged 23.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 assists in two wins for the Tigers last week. The redshirt-sophomore guard scored 23 points in each game.
 
Michael Durr, Jr., Center, USF
Durr recorded 14 points, nine rebounds and two blocks in the Bulls’ win over Florida Gulf Coast. The junior center was 6-of-8 from the field.
 
Tyson Etienne, So., Guard, Wichita State
In two games last week, Etienne averaged 20.0 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists for the Shockers. The sophomore guard also recorded six 3-point field goals.
