Cincinnati to Host Tulsa Dec. 19 in American Football Championship Game

12.08.20

IRVING, Texas – The Cincinnati Bearcats, who are ranked No. 8 in the College Football Playoff rankings released Tuesday night, will host the No. 24 Tulsa Golden Hurricane in the 2020 American Athletic Conference Football Championship Game at Nippert Stadium in Cincinnati.

The 2020 American Championship Game will be Saturday, Dec. 19, at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT. The game will be televised nationally on ABC.

Cincinnati (8-0) will play in The American Championship Game for the second consecutive season, while Tulsa (6-1) will make its first appearance in the championship game. The winner of the championship game will be eligible to be chosen for a New Year’s Six bowl if it is not selected for the four-team College Football Playoff.

Cincinnati and Tulsa finished the regular season tied atop The American standings at 6-0 in conference games. The scheduled regular-season meeting between the teams was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, meaning that Tuesday’s CFP rankings determined the site of the championship game per The American’s tiebreaker policies.

This year’s championship will be the sixth straight to be televised live on ABC.
