PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly indoor track & field honors for the week ending Sunday, Feb. 9.
Men’s Track Athlete of the Week
Chris Borzor * So. * Cincinnati
Borzor clocked a time of 20.92 in the 200-meter dash to win the event at the Charlie Thomas Invitational. The first Cincinnati men’s runner to ever finish under 21 seconds in the distance, Borzor’s time leads The American and is ranked 12th in the NCAA this season.
Men’s Field Athlete of the Week
Miles Marhofer * Jr. * Houston
Marhofer established a Houston program record in the weight throw for the fourth time this season by covering 21.40m (70-2.5) to win the event at the Charlie Thomas Invitational. The throw ranked second in The American and 13th in the NCAA this season.
Women’s Track Athlete of the Week
Chika Iwuamadi * Jr. * SMU
Iwuamadi logged a first-place finish in the 400-meter dash at the Notre Dame Meyo Invitational, crossing the line in 53.52. The effort was the fastest in The American in the distance this season by more than one full second, and ranked 17th nationally.
Women’s Field Athlete of the Week
Taylor Scaife * Sr. * Houston
Scaife repeated as American Women’s Field Athlete of the Week and won the weight throw for the third time this season by pacing the field at the Charlie Thomas Invitational. Her winning throw of 20.85m (68-5.00), just shy of her top attempt for the year recorded earlier this season at the Houston G5-Super 22 Invitational, would rank third in The American and 17th nationally.
