Tulsa's Joiner, Memphis' Achiuwa Earn Weekly Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I.—The American Athletic Conference announced its weekly men’s basketball honors for Feb. 3.
 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Elijah Joiner, Jr., G, Tulsa
Joiner recorded 22 points, five rebounds and five assists, including the buzzer-beating 3-pointer, in Tulsa’s 54-51 win over Wichita State to remain in first place in The American’s standings.
 
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Precious Achiuwa, F, Memphis
Achiuwa averaged 17.0 points, 10.5 rebounds, 2.5 blocks and 2.0 steals in a pair of wins for the Tigers, including a double-double with 18 points and 13 rebounds at UCF on Wednesday (Jan. 29).
 
WEEKLY HONOR ROLL
 
Jarron Cumberland, Sr., G, Cincinnati
Cumberland averaged 22.5 points, 6.0 rebounds and 5.5 assists in a pair of wins for the Bearcats. He had 28 points and nine rebounds in Cincinnati’s win over SMU.
 
Christian Vital, Sr., G, UConn
Vital averaged 17.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.5 steals and 3.0 assists in a 1-1 week for the Huskies.
 
Jayden Gardner, So., F, ECU
Gardner recorded a huge double-double with 29 points and a conference season-high 19 rebounds against Houston and averaged 20.0 points and 13.0 rebounds in two games.
 
Lance Thomas, R-So., F, Memphis
Thomas scored 37 points in two wins this week, including a career-high 20 at UCF, after scoring 41 points in the previous 17 games this season.
 
Laquincy Rideau, Sr., G, USF
Rideau averaged 14.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 3.5 steals in a pair of wins for the Bulls.
