PROVIDENCE, R.I.—The American Athletic Conference announced its weekly baseball honors for March 2.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Hunter Goodman, So., C, Memphis
Goodman had a historic weekend for the Tigers, hitting .524 (11-for-21) with four home runs and 24 RBI in four games. The sophomore had a conference-record 11 RBI in Sunday’s contest against Western Illinois and hit a grand slam in the each of the three weekend games.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Braden Olthoff, Jr., RHP, Tulane
Olthoff pitched the first six innings of a combined no-hitter in a 2-0 win over Middle Tennessee on Friday (Feb. 28). The junior struck out eight batters without allowing a hit or issuing a walk.
WEEKLY HONOR ROLL
Jaylyn Whitehead, R-Sr., LHP, UCF
Whitehead had a win and a save in two appearances for the Knights. The redshirt-senior allowed just one hit and no runs in 8.0 innings of work with 10 strikeouts.
Griffin Merritt, So., INF, Cincinnati
Merritt batted .667 (6-for-9) with five runs, seven RBI and three extra base hits in a four-game sweep of Oakland.
Collin Sullivan, Sr., RHP, USF
Sullivan struck out 14 batters in 6.0 innings of work with four hits and one run allowed in a 2-1 win over Northwestern.
Trevor Minder, Jr., INF, Tulane
Minder hit .562 (9-16) with two home runs, seven runs and six RBI in four games last week. The junior hit for the cycle on Sunday against Middle Tennessee.
Couper Cornblum, Fr., INF/OF, Wichita State
Cornblum hit .429 (6-for-14) with five runs, four RBI and four walks in a 4-0 week for the Shockers.
