PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of its weekly women’s lacrosse honors for the week-ending March 1.
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE ATTACK PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Sophie Furlong • A • Jr. • Vanderbilt • Baltimore, Md.
Furlong scored a team-high four goals, including three in the second half, to lead Vanderbilt to a 14-13 win against No. 10 Denver, giving the Commodores their first win against a top-10 team since 2014. Furlong’s three second-half goals helped the Commodores overcome an 11-7 second-half deficit as Vanderbilt closed the game with a 6-1 run.

Kavanagh scored seven goals with an assist to go with three ground balls, 13 draw controls and two caused turnovers in a 2-0 week that included a 12-10 victory against No. 3 Stony Brook. She began the week with a hat trick in a 21-6 win against Kennesaw State. She added four goals with an assist as the Gators overcame a 5-1 deficit against Stony Brook.

Trombetta led a Florida defense that averaged 8.0 goals allowed in a 2-0 week, including a 12-10 victory against No. 3 Stony Brook. Trombetta had two caused turnovers and three ground balls against Stony Brook and limited the player she guarded - a player with 162 career goals - to two goals.

Reznick had a 7.89 goals-against average and a .588 save percentage in two wins. She made seven stops and allowed four goals in a 21-6 win against Kennesaw State and had 13 stops with 10 goals allowed in a 12-10 victory against No. 3 Stony Brook. She helped to hold her two opponents to a combined 3-for-10 shooting on free positions.
