PROVIDENCE, RI – The American Athletic Conference will celebrate the academic and athletic achievements and successes of its more than 7,500 student-athletes from the 2019-20 school year beginning today as the Conference, in conjunction with the league’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, has designated this upcoming week (April 6-10) American Student-Athlete Appreciation Week. The American plans to highlight the accomplishments of the past year throughout the week in a show of appreciation to student-athletes from its 13 member institutions whose seasons abruptly ended and were cut short by the COVID-19 virus.
The week will kick off with a Student-Athlete Thank You video produced by 4th Floor Creative in Norwood, Ohio, as part of National Student-Athlete Day on Monday, April 6. Throughout the week, The American will feature and share content created by student-athletes on all of its primary social media accounts – Twitter (@American_Conf), Instagram (@american_conf) and Facebook (@AmericanConf), as well as on its SAAC Twitter and Instagram accounts (@American_SAAC), to give fans unprecedented and behind-the-scenes access to American student-athletes.
In addition, each day will be have designated by a different theme and hashtag - #MotivationalMonday (student-athletes will share favorite motivational quotes and inspirations), #TeammateTuesday (student-athletes will share favorite memories with their teammates from the classroom, playing field and during road trips), #WorkoutWednesday (student-athletes will show fans their workout regiments and how they are staying in staying in shape), #ThrowbackThursday (student-athletes will share their favorite memories throughout the year) and #FamilyFriday (students-athletes will show fans how they are spending time away from their campuses with their families and pets).
