Memphis’ Neelly, Temple’s Howard Named To CoSIDA Academic All-America At-Large Third Team

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Two track & field student-athletes representing the American Athletic Conference were named 2020 CoSIDA Academic All-America Third-Team selections, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced on Thursday (June 25).
 
Memphis senior thrower Adam Neelly and Temple senior runner Millie Howard each earned CoSIDA Academic All-America honors for the first time in their respective careers. The 16 total Academic All-Americans representing The American during the 2019-20 academic year across the 12 award categories equaled a single season best for the conference since forming in 2013.
 
Neelly was a three-time podium finisher at American championships during his Memphis career (second place, shot put, 2019 indoor – third place, discus, 2018 outdoor – third place, shot put, 2018 indoor). He established PRs in the shot put (18.26m, 59-11) at the 2018 American Outdoor Track & Field Championships and the weight throw (18.99m, 62-3.75) at the 2019 American Indoor Track & Field Championships. Neelly graduated from Memphis with a 3.99 GPA in business economics and posted a 4.00 GPA while pursuing a graduate MBA.
 
Howard won three American championships during her career, racing to victory in the mile at the 2018 (4:46.21) American Indoor Championships, the 1500-meter run (4:21.80) at the 2019 American Outdoor Championships and as part of the DMR (11:26.89) at the 2020 American Indoor Championships. She earned a total of nine all-conference scrolls during her standout career with the Owls. Howard graduated from Temple with a 3.98 GPA in economics.
