Three quarterbacks from the American Athletic Conference are listed among the 30 players named to the preseason watch list for the 2020 Davey O'Brien Award, which goes to the top signal-caller nationally.
 
Two of The American's three representatives were semifinalists for the 2019 Davey O'Brien Award - Shane Buechele of SMU and Brady White of Memphis. They are joined on this year's list by UCF sophomore Dillon Gabriel.

Buechele was named to the American Athletic Conference first team last season after he led the league in passing average (302.2 ypg) and touchdown passes (34). White led The American with 4,014 passing yards and a 64.0-percent completion rate, while Gabriel passed for 3,653 yards and 29 touchdowns as a true freshman in 2019.

Sixteen semifinalists selected from the final watch list will be named on Tuesday, Nov. 10. The Foundation will announce the three finalists two weeks later (Tuesday, Nov. 24). The 2020 Davey O’Brien Award winner will be unveiled live on ESPN Thursday, Dec. 10, during The Home Depot College Football Awards.
