IRVING, Texas -- UCF and Cincinnati, which were among The American's four nationally ranked teams in the final national polls of 2019, are both ranked in the preseason top 25 for 2020 as the USA Today Coaches' Poll was released Thursday.

UCF checks in at No. 21 in the national poll as the Knights earned a preseason ranking for the third consecutive season. UCF finished last season ranked No. 24 after the Knights went 10-3, capped by a win against Marshall in the Gasparilla Bowl.

Cincinnati is one spot behind the Knights at No. 22 in the preseason poll. The Bearcats went 11-3 in 2019, winning The American's East Division title and defeating Boston College in the TicketSmarter Birmingham Bowl. The Bearcats were ranked No. 21 in the final polls of 2019.

The American, which has two teams in the preseason poll for the first time in the conference's eight-year history, saw four other teams receive votes in the coaches' poll: Memphis, Navy, Tulane and SMU.
