IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly football honors for the third week of the 2020 college football season.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Dillon Gabriel • UCF • So. • QB • Mililani, Hawaii
Gabriel was chosen as the Walter Camp Football Foundation National Offensive Player of the Week after he enjoyed a career day in the Knights’ 49-21 win at Georgia Tech in UCF’s season-opener. Gabriel completed 27 of 41 passes for a career-high 417 yards and four touchdowns, becoming the fifth player in program history to throw for more than 400 yards with four TDs in a game. Gabriel earned the second Walter Camp of his young career after first earning the honor as a freshman last season.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Diego Fagot • Navy • Jr. • LB • Snellville, Ga.
Fagot led a Navy defense that held Tulane to 82 total yards and no points in the second half, allowing the Midshipmen to rally for a 27-24 road victory in the American Athletic Conference opener. Fagot registered nine tackles to go with 2.0 tackles for loss, a sack and two pass breakups as Navy overcame the largest deficit to win in program history (24 points).
SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Bijan Nichols • Navy • So. • K • Heath, Texas
Nichols scored five points, but delivered a victory for Navy in the Midshipmen’s American Athletic Conference opener at Tulane as his 33-yard field goal as time expired gave Navy its only lead in a 27-24 come-from-behind win. It was the second consecutive season in which Navy topped the Green Wave on a Nichols field goal at the final gun as this year’s kick capped the Midshipmen’s comeback from a 24-0 halftime deficit
Chris Naggar • SMU • Sr. • K • Arlington, Texas
Naggar repeats as The American’s Special Teams Player of the Week after he scored 17 points, going 11-for-11 on placements as SMU took a 65-35 win at North Texas. Naggar made all three of his field goal attempts, connecting from 37, 22 and 46 yards and went 8-for-8 on PATs to rank third on The American’s single-game chart for kicker scoring.

Completed 24 of 33 passes for 344 yards and four touchdowns and added a rushing TD in a 65-35 win at North Texas.
Zaven Collins • Tulsa • Jr. • LB
Had six tackles, with three sacks and four tackles for loss in a 16-7 loss at No. 11 Oklahoma State.
