Salisbury into Semifinals at US Open

09.07.20

NEW YORK--Former Memphis men's tennis standout Joe Salisbury has earned a spot in the men's doubles semifinals with teammate Rajeev Ram at the 2020 US Open in New York.

Salisbury, who turned pro in 2014, is ranked No. 5 in the world in doubles. He and Ram defeated Christopher Eubanks and Mackenzie McDonald 6-2, 7-6 (5) to advance to the semis. The third-seeded pair will face No. 8 seed Wesley Koolhof and Nikola Mektic in the semifinals on Tuesday (Sept. 8).

Salisbury and Ram are looking to advance to their seventh final as a team. In February, the duo captured the Australia Open men's double championship, the first major win for both players. They also captured the doubles' titles at Vienna and Dubai and were finalists at Antwerp, Queen's Club in London and Brisbane in 2019.

As a Tiger, Salisbury was a member of the 2014 All-American Athletic Conference Team in both singles and doubles and qualified for the 2014 NCAA Men's Doubles Championship with David O'Hare.
