Tulane’s Freeman, Tulsa’s Mayberry Honored As Week Seven American Standout Players

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly women’s basketball honors, for the week ending Sunday, Jan. 10.
 
Player of the Week
Krystal Freeman * Sr. * F * Tulane

Freeman enjoyed a solid week for 2-0 Tulane, averaging 19.0 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.0 steals per game while shooting 64 percent from the field. Freeman tallied 20 points, seven boards and five steals in a road victory at Houston (Jan. 6) to kick off the week. She added 18 points, six rebounds, a block and a steal to end the road trip in a win at Cincinnati (Jan. 9). Freeman ranks fourth in The American in rebounding (8.8 per game) and field goal percentage (.476) and sixth in scoring (14.7 points per game) as of Jan. 11.

Wyvette Mayberry * Fr. * G * Tulsa
Mayberry averaged 17.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 4.0 steals per contest in a 2-0 week for Tulsa. She scored 20 points and added five rebounds and three assists in a road win at Cincinnati (Jan. 6). Mayberry then turned in 15 points, seven assists, six steals and a blocked shot to help power the Golden Hurricane past Memphis (Jan. 9).

Scored 14 points and hit four 3-pointers in lone Memphis start of the week at Tulsa, adding a rebound and steal to stat line
