East Carolina and Memphis Highlight Women's Soccer Honors

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly women’s soccer awards for the seventh week of the regular season.
 
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Tanya Boychuk, Sr., M/F, Memphis
Boychuk scored a pair of game-winning goals last week in Tiger wins over Tulsa on Thursday, Oct. 7 and Cincinnati on Sunday, Oct. 10. With the wins, Memphis moved into first place in the conference standings.
 
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Haylee Spray, So., M/D, Memphis
Spray played all 180 minutes in the Tigers’ wins over Tulsa and Cincinnati, helping lead the defense to only allow four shots on goal and one goal allowed over the two matches.
 
GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK
Maeve English, So., East Carolina
English allowed one goal in 192 minutes of action last week, making 12 saves in a pair of wins. She made four saves in a 2-1 win over Temple on Thursday and recorded eight saves in her fourth shutout of the season on Sunday, a 1-0 double overtime win over Houston.
 
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Haley McWhirter, M, East Carolina
McWhirter repeated as The American’s Rookie of the Week after scoring the golden goal in double overtime at Houston on Sunday.
 
HONOR ROLL
Ellie Moreno, Jr., F, UCF
Moreno recorded five points last week with three assists and one goal. She scored the final goal in a 3-0 win over Tulsa on Sunday and assisted on the other two goals. She also assisted on the Knights’ lone goal against South Florida.
 
Mia Brascia, R-Sr., M, Houston
Brascia scored the game-winning goal for the Cougars against No. 15 SMU in a 1-0 victory Thursday.
 
Emilie Lajmiri, Fr., M, South Florida
Lajmiri scored the golden goal with 48 seconds remaining in double overtime against in-state rival UCF on Thursday.
 
Tatum Sutherland, R-So., GK, SMU
Sutherland made 12 saves in two matches last week, including eight in a 2-0 win at South Florida on Sunday.
 
Lindsey Whitmore, Gr., M, SMU
Whitmore scored both Mustang goals in a 2-0 win at South Florida on Sunday.
