IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly women’s volleyball honors, for the week ending Sunday, October 3.
Offensive Player of the Week
Abby Walker * Fr. * MB/OPP * Cincinnati
Walker was all over the court for Cincinnati in a 2-0 conference week, leading The American with 1.12 service aces per set and finishing fourth with 5.00 points per frame and sixth with 1.12 blocks per set. Walker hit .281 with 15 kills, five aces and seven total blocks (three solo) in a four-set triumph against Memphis on Oct. 1. Walker added 10 kills on .320 hitting with four aces and a pair of block assists in a competitive win in four sets over SMU on Oct. 3.
Defensive Player of the Week
Alex Glover * Jr. * MB * SMU
Glover continued a recent run of good form for 1-1 SMU, leading The American with 1.71 blocks per set and finishing second with a .481 hitting percentage among all conference players. Glover hit an impressive .667 with eight kills and five total blocks (one solo) in a sweep of East Carolina on Oct. 1. Glover turned in seven kills and a .333 hitting percentage with three digs and seven block assists in four sets at Cincinnati on Oct. 3.
Weekly Honor Roll
Nerissa Moravec * R-Sr. * MB * UCF
Ranked third in the conference with a .475 hitting percentage and averaged an even 1.00 blocks per set for 2-0 UCF; finished with a .435 clip and 10 kills to go along with five blocks (one solo) in a five-set comeback at Wichita State (Oct. 1) and hit .529 with 11 kills in a four-set win at Tulsa (Oct. 3)
Kate Georgiades * So. * DS/L * Houston
Finished second in The American with 5.86 digs per set in a 2-0 week for Houston; logged 25 digs and two assists in a four-set win at Tulane (Sept. 29) and chipped in 16 digs with five aces in a sweep at Temple (Oct. 3)
Lily Heim * Sr. * S * SMU
Played a key role for SMU in leading the conference in team hitting percentage (.279) and was the league leader in assists per set with 12.43; registered 39 assists and seven digs in a sweep at East Carolina (Oct. 1) and logged 48 assists and 11 digs in four sets at Cincinnati (Oct. 3)
Lexie Douglas * R-Sr. * OH * Tulane
Ranked sixth in The American with 4.06 points per set for Tulane in a 1-1 week; hit .275 with 14 kills, nine digs and three solo blocks against Houston (Sept. 29) and contributed 13 kills, two aces and eight digs in a four-set win at Temple (Oct. 3)
Kayce Litzau * So. * S * Wichita State
Guided Wichita State to the third-best conference hitting percentage for the week at .249 and ranked third individually with 10.75 assists per set; logged 51 assists and 14 digs in a five-set thriller with UCF (Oct. 1) and contributed 35 assists in a sweep of South Florida (Oct. 3)
