UCF’s Melville, Houston’s Tullos Repeat As Week 10 American Volleyball Award Winners

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly women’s volleyball honors, for the week ending Sunday, October 31.
 
Offensive Player of the Week
McKenna Melville * Sr. * OH * UCF
Melville repeated as the conference’s top offensive player after a huge week for 2-0 UCF that included an RPI top-60 win. Melville was first in The American with 6.67 points per set, second with a .536 hitting percentage and seventh with 3.83 digs per set in a pair of starts. Melville hit .452 with 21 kills and 15 digs in a straight-set sweep of Tulsa on Oct. 29. Melville finished the weekend hitting a blistering .667 with 18 kills and eight digs in just three sets to defeat Wichita State on Oct. 31.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Rachel Tullos * Jr. * MB * Houston
Tullos added a second straight defensive player of the week award for 2-0 Houston at home. Tullos led the conference with 1.57 blocks per set and hit .367 with 3.14 points per frame in a pair of wins. Tullos logged three blocks (one solo) and added eight kills and a dig in four sets against Tulane on Oct. 27. Tullos erupted for eight total blocks (two solo) and hit .385 with seven kills in a sweep of Temple on Oct. 29.

Claudia Dillon * Jr. * MB * UCF
Ranked second in The American with 1.50 blocks per set, third with a .536 hitting percentage and seventh with 4.25 points per set in a 2-0 UCF week; hit .562 with 11 kills and three block assists against Tulsa (Oct. 29) and logged a .500 hitting percentage with six block assists in a sweep of Wichita State (Oct. 31)
 
Abby Walker * Fr. * MB/OPP * Cincinnati
Finished seventh in the conference with a .467 hitting percentage and eighth with 4.06 points per set in a 1-1 Cincinnati weekend; hit an even .500 with two service aces, 12 kills and six digs at SMU (Oct. 29) and recorded a .450 hitting percentage with 20 kills in a five-set win at Memphis (Oct. 31)
 
Bri Wood * Sr. * RS * East Carolina
Placed fifth in the conference with 4.25 digs per set and 10th with 3.62 points per set for East Carolina; notched 15 kills with 18 digs at Memphis (Oct. 29) and went for 12 kills and 16 digs at SMU (Oct. 31)
 
Kaylyn Winkler * Sr. * MB * SMU
Was third in The American with 1.25 blocks per set in an undefeated 2-0 week for SMU; hit .333 with nine kills and four blocks (three solo) in four sets against Cincinnati (Oct. 29) and registered 11 kills with six block assists against East Carolina (Oct. 31)
 
Lexie Douglas * R-Sr. * OH * Tulane
Closed the week third in The American with 4.94 points per set and hit .434 for 1-1 Tulane; posted 15 kills and 15 digs in a four-set loss at Houston (Oct. 27) before hitting a blistering .524 with 27 kills and eight digs in a five-set victory against Temple (Oct. 31)
