Tulsa Withstands Tulane's Comeback to Win in Overtime, 20-13

NEW ORLEANS - Shamari Brooks' 15-yard run in overtime allowed Tulsa to escape with a 20-13 win against Tulane Saturday afternoon at Yulman Stadium.

Tulsa took a 13-3 lead into the fourth quarter, but the Golden Hurricane let the Green Wave back in it with four second-half turnovers. Tulane's Phat Watts had a 49-yard touchdown reception from Michael Pratt, and the Green Wave recovered the onside kick, allowing Merek Glover to tie it on Merek Glover's 23-yard field goal with 1:16 left.

Tulane had a chance to win it in regulation after Macon Clark picked off Davis Brin with a minute remaining. The Green Wave took over at the Tulsa 24-yard line and advanced to the 7, where Pratt spiked the ball with four seconds left. But Glover's 26-yard attempt at the gamewinner sailed to the right of the crossbar.

Tulsa picked up a first down on its overtime possession and Brooks broke free down the left side to put the Golden Hurricane back on top. Needing a touchdown on its possession to keep playing, Tulane was unable to get a first down as Pratt's fourth down pass fell incomplete.

Brooks finished with 71 yards on 19 carries for Tulsa (4-6, 3-3 American), while Brin went 19-for-30 for 188 yards and a touchdown and three interceptions.Linebacker Justin Wright had a game-high 12 tackles, including 10 solo stops.

Tulane (1-9, 0-6 American) was led by running back Tyjae Spears, who had 14 carries for 104 yards.
