Memphis, SMU Fall in NCAA Championship Second Round

Both Memphis and SMU fell in the second round of the NCAA Division I Women's Soccer Championship Friday, November 19.

Duke 1, Memphis 0 - Box Score
In a mostly even affair, a late first-half goal propelled No. 1 seed Duke to the third round over Memphis, 1-0. The Tigers finish the season 14-5-2, while the Blue Devils improved to 15-3-1.

The lone goal came in the 43rd minute by Delaney Graham, who scored off assists from Maggie Graham and Michelle Cooper.

Duke led in shots, 7-6, while both teams had five corners each. Both goalkeepers, Memphis' Elizabeth Moberg and Duke's Ruthie Jones, each made one save.

Florida State 5, SMU 1 - Box Score
No. 1 seed Florida State, took down SMU, 5-1, after scoring twice in the first half and three times in the second.

Yujie Zhao opened the scoring in the 22nd minute, while Jody Brown doubled the lead for Florida State (18-1-2) in the 28th minute. 

Lindsay Whitmore scored for the Mustangs (12-5-2) in the 81st minute, converting a penalty. 

FSU led in shots, 17-3, and corners, 7-0. Samantha Estrada made five saves in the first half for SMU, while Tatum Sutherland recorded three in the second half.
