IRVING, Texas – The Cincinnati Bearcats, who are ranked No. 4 in the College Football Playoff rankings released Tuesday, will host the No. 24-ranked Houston Cougars in the 2021 American Athletic Conference Football Championship Game presented by RoofClaim.com at Nippert Stadium in Cincinnati.
The 2021 American Championship Game will be Saturday, Dec. 4, at 4 p.m. ET/3 p.m. CT. The game will be televised nationally on ABC.
Cincinnati (12-0) will play in The American Championship Game for the third consecutive season and looks for its second straight American title, while Houston (10-1 entering Saturday’s game at UConn) will make its second appearance in the championship game after the Cougars won the inaugural title game in 2015.
Cincinnati and Houston finished the regular season tied atop The American standings at 8-0 in conference games, becoming the fourth and fifth teams in league history to finish 8-0 in league play. The teams did not meet in the regular season, meaning that Cincinnati’s higher CFP rankings determined the site of the championship game per The American’s tiebreaker policies.
This year’s championship will be the seventh straight to be televised live on ABC.
