GREENVILLE, N.C. -- — Brandon Suggs made a layup with 40 seconds left to lift East Carolina to a 63-62 win over Old Dominion on Tuesday night. C.J. Keyserturned the ball over on the following possession for the Monarchs, securing the victory for the Pirates.

Vance Jackson had 21 points to lead the Pirates.

Jackson shot 6 for 7 on 3-pointers.

Suggs had 14 points and eight rebounds for East Carolina (6-2), which earned its fifth straight home victory. Tristen Newton added 13 points and eight assists. Brandon Johnson had three blocks.

C.J. Keyser had 19 points for the Monarchs (3-5). Kalu Ezikpe added 12 points. A.J. Oliver II had seven rebounds.

The Pirates improve to 2-0 against the Monarchs this season. East Carolina defeated Old Dominion 73-60 on Nov. 19.

HOUSTON -- — Marcus Sasser made seven 3-pointers in the first half and finished with 26 points, and No. 15 Houston beat Northwestern State 99-58 on Tuesday night.

Sasser had 23 points by halftime on 7-of-12 shooting from beyond the arc as the Cougars (6-1) built a 60-25 lead at the break. He finished 9 of 17 from the field for the game.

Taze Moore scored 17 points, Jamal Shead added 12 points and nine assists, Tramon Mark scored 12 points and Kyler Edwards had 10 points for Houston, which shot a season-high 54% and made a season-high 14 3-pointers on 34 attempts (41.2%).

Houston forced Northwestern State (1-7) into 21 turnovers, which the Cougars turned into 32 points. Houston, which won its 29th straight at home, had a season high in points.

Emareyon McDonald scored 17 points and Kendal Coleman had 11 points and five rebounds for the Demons, who lost their fifth straight. Northwestern State shot 38% and was 7 of 14 on 3-pointers.

Houston outscored the Demons 22-7 over the opening 8:10, capped by a dunk by J'Wan Roberts. Sasser had nine points in the run.

CHARLESTON, S.C. -- — Reyne Smith had 22 points as College of Charleston narrowly defeated Tulane 81-77 on Tuesday night.

The Cougars led 77-65 with 2:18 to play but needed four free throws in the final five seconds to ensure the victory.

Brenden Tucker had 17 points for College of Charleston (5-2). Fah'mir Ali added 10 points.

Jaylen Forbes had 20 points for the Green Wave (2-5). Jalen Cook added 18 points. Jadan Coleman had 11 points.
