South Florida’s Pinzan And Tulane’s Ursin, Tulsa’s Poindexter Highlight Women’s Basketball Winners In Week Five

IRVING, Texas The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly women’s basketball honors, for the week ending Sunday, December 12.
 
Players of the Week
Elisa Pinzan * Jr. * G * South Florida
Pinzan scored a game-high 24 points and hit 6-of-9 shot attempts for No. 17/19 South Florida in a 64-57 comeback win at VCU on Dec. 12. Pinzan tallied 22 of the 24 points in the second half and hit 3-of-4 attempts from 3-point range, helping the Bulls erase a 16-point deficit over the final 15 minutes of the contest.
 
Moon Ursin * R-Sr. * G * Tulane
Ursin turned in the fifth triple-double in American women’s basketball history, and the first since 2017, in a 91-84 win against Troy on Dec. 8. Ursin logged 18 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists to power the Green Wave in a team-high 37 minutes played, hitting 8-of-10 attempts from the free-throw line.
 
Freshman of the Week
Temira Poindexter * Fr. * F * Tulsa
Poindexter averaged 16.0 points and 6.0 rebounds per game in a 2-0 Tulsa week, hitting 63.6 percent (14-of-22) of shots from the floor for the Golden Hurricane. Poindexter hit 9-of-13 attempts and logged 19 points with eight rebounds and two blocks versus Missouri S&T on Dec. 8 and 13 points, four rebounds, three blocks and two steals in a win over Central Arkansas on Dec. 12.

Logged a game-high 21 points to go along with seven rebounds and two steals for East Carolina in a home blowout of NC Central (Dec. 6)

Logged her conference-high sixth double-double of the season with 14 points and 15 rebounds in SMU’s home victory against Delaware (Dec. 7)
 
Wyvette Mayberry * So. * G * Tulsa
Averaged 21.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 3.5 steals per game for 2-0 Tulsa; registered 19 points, five assists and three steals in a win over Missouri S&T (Dec. 8) and added a career-high 24 points to go along with six rebounds and four steals versus Central Arkansas (Dec. 12)
