SMU's Davis, Memphis' Duren Earn Weekly Honors

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly men’s basketball honors for the sixth week of the season.
 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Kendric Davis, Sr., G, SMU
Davis scored a season-high 33 points, the most in The American this year, in a 90-72 win at New Mexico on Sunday, Dec. 19. The senior guard also recorded five rebounds and three assists with no turnovers.
 
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Jalen Duren, C, Memphis
Duren aided the Tigers to a 92-78 win over No. 6 Alabama on Tuesday, Dec. 14 with 14 points and six rebounds. The freshman was efficient from the field, shooting 7-for-9.
 
HONOR ROLL
Brandon Mahan, Sr., G, UCF
Mahan recorded 18 points and five rebounds in the Knights’ conference-opening win over Temple on Wednesday, Dec. 15.
 
Jeremiah Davenport, Jr., G, Cincinnati
Davenport averaged 19.0 points and 3.0 rebounds as the Bearcats defeated Florida A&M on Tuesday and Ashland (Ohio) on Saturday.
 
Jamal Shead, So., G, Houston
Shead averaged 17.0 points, 6.5 assists and 3.0 rebounds in a home win over Louisiana on Tuesday and a neutral-site win against Oklahoma State on Saturday.
 
DeAndre Williams, Sr., F, Memphis
Williams led the Tigers with 20 points, six assists, three steals and three rebounds in a win over No. 6 Alabama on Tuesday night.
 
Sam Griffin, So., G, Tulsa
Griffin recorded 19 points, four steals, two assists and a pair of rebounds in an 83-62 win against Alcorn State on Thursday, Dec. 16.
