IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly women’s basketball honors, for the week ending Sunday, December 19.
 
Player of the Week
Rebecca Lescay * Sr. * G * Tulsa
Lescay averaged 21.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 2.5 steals per game for conference leader Tulsa in a 2-0 trip to the GSU Holiday Classic in Atlanta. Lescay hit 12-of-19 attempts from the floor to score 25 points (16 in the second half), pulled down seven rebounds and dished out five assists in a 67-55 win over host Georgia State on Dec. 18. Lescay added 18 points, eight boards, seven dimes and four steals in just 24 minutes during a 92-62 rout of South Alabama on Dec. 19.
 
Freshman of the Week
Temira Poindexter * Fr. * F * Tulsa
Poindexter turned in 9.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game for Tulsa during the GSU Holiday Classic at Georgia State, shooting 55.6 percent from 3-point range for the tournament. Poindexter’s weekend was highlighted by scoring 11 points, pulling down five rebounds and distributing three assists with two blocks against Georgia State on Dec. 18.

Averaged 17.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 3.0 steals per game for 1-1 UCF in a pair of road games; tallied 22 points with six assists and two steals in a win at Seton Hall (Dec. 14) and scored 12 points with four steals at No. 14/15 Iowa (Dec. 18)
 
Akira Levy * Jr. * G * Cincinnati
Turned in 18.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 8.5 assists per contest for 2-0 Cincinnati; scored 14 points with five assists at Chattanooga (Dec. 15) and posted 22 points with 12 assists and seven rebounds in a double-overtime win over NC A&T (Dec. 19)
 
Taniyah Thompson * Jr. * G * East Carolina
Recorded 26.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per game while shooting 52.5 percent in a 1-1 East Carolina week; scored a career-high 31 points on a 13-of-19 from the floor in a win at UNCW (Dec. 19)
 
Laila Blair * So. * G * Houston
Scored a game-high 20 points and added six rebounds and six assists in a Houston win at Florida State (Dec. 16); knocked down 6-of-11 (.545) shots from beyond the arc in the victory
 
Asia Strong * Sr. * F * Wichita State
Logged 17 points and a career-high 15 rebounds in a Wichita State comeback win at North Texas (Dec. 17); kickstarted a game-ending 10-2 run over the final 55 seconds to lead the Shockers back from a 62-57 deficit
