Temple's Hicks, Wichita State's Pohto Earn Weekly Honors

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly men’s basketball honors for the sixth week of the season.
 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Zach Hicks, Fr., G, Temple
Hicks nearly set a conference record for 3-pointers in a game after recording 35 points, including 10 from behind the arc, in a win over Delaware State on Wednesday, Dec. 22. The freshman, who’s 10 3-pointers broke the Temple record and 35 points tied the school’s freshman record, came off the bench and grabbed seven rebounds as well.
 
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Kenny Pohto, F, Wichita State
Pohto nearly recorded a double-double against Prairie View A&M with 12 points, nine rebounds and three blocks in a big win for the Shockers on Wednesday.
 
HONOR ROLL
Darius Perry, Sr., G, UCF
Perry posted 15 points, nine assists and six rebounds in the Knights’ win over North Alabama on Wednesday.
 
Mike Saunders Jr., So., G, Cincinnati
Saunders came off the bench and scored a team-high 15 points, all in the second half in the Bearcats’ home win over Tennessee Tech on Tuesday, Dec. 21.
 
Tristen Newton, So., G, East Carolina
Newton led the Pirates to a win over Southern Miss on Tuesday with 22 points, six assists and four rebounds.
 
Josh Carlton, Gr., F, Houston
Carlton scored a team-high 20 points with five rebounds in a win over Texas State on Wednesday.
 
Tyson Etienne, So., G, Wichita State
Etienne recorded 20 points, five assists and four steals in the Shockers’ win over Prairie View A&M.
