NEW ORLEANS – Luis Aviles' walk-off single and Braden Olthoff's solid outing led the Tulane University baseball team (1-0) to a 3-2 victory over the University of Louisiana-Lafayette (0-1) in Friday's opening day matchup inside Greer Field at Turchin Stadium.
 
With the Ragin' Cajuns leading 2-1 in the bottom of the tenth, the Green Wave took three walks to load the bases. With two outs, DH Aviles ripped a 1-1 pitch into left that scored junior Jared Hart scored from third and sophomore Ethan Groff came in from second to score the winning run.
  
Senior Olthoff (0-0) started on the mound for Tulane and threw 5.1 innings of no-run ball, striking out seven and walking one. Olthoff got out of two bases loaded jams, one in the top of the third and one in the top of the fifth. 

East Carolina 3, Rhode Island 2 (10) - Box Score

GREENVILLE, N.C. -- Christian Smallwood hit a pinch-hit single that drove home Lane Hoover in the 10th inning to give East Carolina a 3-2 win over Rhode Island on Lewis Field at Clark-Leclair Stadium on Friday.

Bryson Worrell singled and scored in the fifth inning, while Tyler Smith allowed two runs in 5.1 innings of work for the Pirates (1-0).

Cam Colmore (1-0) earned the win after getting the Pirates out of a bases loaded jam with one out in the ninth inning and pitching a scoreless 10th inning.

Florida Atlantic 12, UCF 6 - Box Score

ORLANDO, Fla. -- UCF dropped its season opener to Florida Atlantic, 12-6, at John Euliano Park on Friday.

Tom Josten drove in five runs, including a seventh-inning grand slam, and Josh Crouch was 3-for-4 for the Knights (0-1). 

Colton Gordon allowed five runs (one earned) in 4.0 innings of work, while Zack Hunsicker threw 3.0 innings of scoreless relief. 

Clemson 5, Cincinnati 0 - Box Score

CLEMSON, S.C. – The University of Cincinnati baseball team dropped its season opener at No. 25 Clemson in a 5-0 decision at Doug Kingsmore Stadium on Friday.
 
The Bearcats (0-1) struggled to get the offense going as they were back on the diamond for the first time in 345 days. UC had a pair of hits and stranded three runners on the day.
 
Clemson (1-0) scored a single run in the fifth, added four in the seventh and got 15 strikeouts from two pitchers, nine from starter Davis Sharpe and six from reliever Mat Clark. Sharpe got the victory while Clark picked up a four-inning save.
