Houston’s Jackson, USF’s Clausen Win American Volleyball Weekly Awards In Week Five

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly women’s volleyball honors, for the week ending Sunday, Feb. 21.
 
Offensive Player of the Week
Abbie Jackson * So. * OH * Houston
Jackson was the top scorer in The American during a 2-0 week for Houston in a series sweep of Tulane, logging 6.44 points per set and 46 kills (5.75 per set). Jackson hit at a .301 percent in the two matches, the fourth-best total in the league. She hit at a .418 clip with 26 kills in a four-set win against Tulane on Feb. 20 before adding 20 kills, five digs and five total blocks (two solo) in the finale with the Green Wave (Feb. 21).
 
Defensive Player of the Week
CC Clausen * So. * DS * USF
Clausen was one of the top liberos in the conference during a pair of USF wins last week on the road at East Carolina. She notched 6.44 digs per set against the Pirates, the second-most in The American for the week, to go along with three service aces. Clausen turned in 21 digs, five assists and a service ace in four sets in match one with ECU (Feb. 18) before posting 37 digs, seven helpers and two aces in a five-set triumph to complete the sweep (Feb. 19).

Averaged 5.75 points per set to rank second in The American while ranking sixth in hitting percentage (.244) and digs (3.83) in a sweep at Temple; recorded 15 kills and 13 digs in a match one sweep (Feb. 18) and chipped in 15 kills, 10 digs and two solo blocks to blank Temple in match two (Feb. 19)
 
Kathryn Wesolich * Jr. * MB * UCF
Led all conference players with 2.33 blocks per set and placed second with a .333 hitting percentage in a two-match sweep of Temple; hit .667 with six kills and eight block assists in the opening contest with the Owls (Feb. 18)
 
Isabel Theut * Jr. * MB * Houston
Averaged the third-most blocks per set (1.75) in the conference for Houston in a 2-0 week against Tulane; picked up five kills and logged 11 total blocks (one solo) in four sets of match two against the Green Wave (Feb. 21)

Set USF to the second-best team hitting percentage (.223) of the week in a 2-0 road trip to East Carolina, logging the fourth-most conference assists with 7.44 per set; posted a double-double with 34 assists and 14 digs in match one (Feb. 18) along with 33 assists and 10 digs in match two (Feb. 19)

Led The American with 7.17 digs per set in two home showdowns with No. RV UCF; registered 27 digs and five assists to go along with one service ace in match one with the Knights (Feb. 18)
