Perhaps the best chance of regulation for the Cougars came in the 61st minute when they pieced together an incredible opportunity at the net after a throw-in from midfield. After three passes the ball was crossed into the box where midfielder Adriana Hutson's shot missed narrowly to the left of the goal.
With the game winding down in the final minutes of the second overtime, the Cougars earned the only shot for either team in that last stanza. The shot by midfielder Mia Brascia skipped over the crossbar. Brascia and Reid Morrison led the team with two shots apiece.
In net goalkeeper Salma Ghazal made her presence known against the Roadrunners with four saves, earning her first shutout of the season and first as a Cougar. The Sugar Land, Texas, native is now up to six saves on the young season after transferring from Texas Southern.
