IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winner of the league’s women’s golf player of the week honor, for the week ending Tuesday, Feb. 2.

Fredgaard picked up an individual tournament victory in her first start of the season at the UCF Challenge, contested at the Eagle Creek Golf Club in Orlando, Florida. She helped guide Houston to a 36-hole team lead and fifth-place finish overall (869, +5) on the par-72, 6,349-yard layout, winning solo medalist honors by two strokes with a three-day score of 209 (70-67-72, -7). Fredgaard, the tournament leader with 15 birdies and a 3.93 stroke average on par-4s, was the only player in the field of 90 to finish at par or better in all three rounds. She also was multiple strokes ahead of the round-by-round scoring average each day, including nearly eight shots (74.92 stroke average) ahead of the field average during a seven-birdie showing of 67 in round two.
